World Space Week logo The United Nations General Assembly has declared this time in October as World Space Week "To celebrate each year at the international level the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition". The theme for this year is "Deep Space DISCOVERY".

2015 Sep 29 - Oct 01 * 15th AUSTRALIAN SPACE RESEARCH CONFERENCE
ASRC logo The 15th Australian Space Research Conference (ASRC) will be held this year in Canberra at the University of New South Wales campus on the Australian Defence Forces Academy. Jointly sponsored by the National Committee for Space and Radio Science and the National Space Society of Australia, and with support from the Australian Space Research Institute and the Mars Society of Australia, it will cover the areas of space science, space engineering, space industry, government space and space education and outreach. This year will also include the 3rd Australian Workshop on Space Situational Awareness. More details can be found at ASRC-15. 2015 Jul 5 - 10 * ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA ANNUAL MEETING
Astron Soc Austral logo The 2015 Annual Scientific Meeting and General Meeting of the Astronomical Society of Australia will be held at The Esplanade Hotel In Fremantle, Western Australia. Planetry Conjunction The planets Venus and Jupiter will come to within a third of a degree from each other as observed from the Earth, forming a spectacular planetary pair visible in the early evening sky.

2015 Apr 01 * CUBESAT AUSTRALIA
ACSER The Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research at the University of New South Wales will hold a conference on "Launching Cubesats for and from Australia". A wide range of speakers will discuss the design, construction and launch of smallsats for and eventually from Australia.

2015 Feb * PERTH OBSERVATORY STATUS
Perth Observatory Logo The Western Australian Department of Parks and Wildlife has terminated the employment of all permanent staff at the Perth Observatory. This Observatory was the longest running state government observatory in Australia. The Perth Observatory Volunteer Group has been given permission to continue running the visitor program for an indefinite period. More details at Perth Observatory.
