Note:

    The artist, who is also an astronomer, painted this
    picture just after listening to the lunar landing of
    the Apollo 11 spacecraft on the radio. Television
    was not available in Exmouth at this time. The
    vision portrayed was thus drawn from the artist's
    impression of the event from the description he had
    heard.
