ALIEN SURPRISE - A SPACE SONNET

We put on our masks and started our dive
Way down the abyss: we felt pressure rise.
Before us we saw the lights of the hive;
We couldn't believe, we could only surmise.

In front of our eyes, the structure took shape;
We must now go slow, we couldn't be seen;
With places to hide, and care not to scrape;
We hid in the rocks; our senses were keen.

Our mission was simple; we must not fail
To plant our load of destruction and run.
If we did not succeed to lift the veil,
The life of the world would surely be done.

A loud explosion ripped up to the air;
The alien menace: no longer there!
